Noche del Corazon Español

Noche del Corazon Español brings together artists from the Classical Spanish and Flamenco worlds to produce an electrifying show that lays bare the heart and soul of Spain.
Professional mezzo soprano Nicola Harrison (www.nicolaharrison.co.uk) sings the stunning, passionate and earth-movingly beautiful songs of Rodrigo, de Falla, Turina, Guridi, Granados, etc. Nicola's voice is typically Spanish in colour and emotion. Accompanied by superb classical pianist Guy Newbury, both performers are tutors at university of Oxford and have worked together on the Spanish repertoire for many years.
Taken from the folk (and often flamenco) tradition, and set with the most exquisite accompaniments, the Classical song pieces chosen here lie at the heart of Spanishness - as firmly as flamenco does. The songs, which are about love and loss, some simple and innocent, some tortured, are filled with the passion, pain and intensity that typifies Spanish art. Many of the songs are flamenco in idiom, with long cries of anguish and whispers of love.
The essential elements of flamenco’s percussive footwork rhythms, beautiful guitar accompaniment, and passionate song both complement and contrast each piece. With technical virtuosity, raw natural song, percussive footwork, voice, piano and flamenco guitar, experience the riveting and astonishing beauty of these complementary art forms that come together to give you the essence of Spain in this 'Noche del Corazon Español'.
Suitable for theatre, Peña Flamencas, museums, recital rooms, theatre foyers and galleries.
